Cost of Class

 

£5.00 per lesson.

 

Membership

 

£20.00 a year - includes insurance and Jiu-Jitsu International membership.

 

Beginner classes

 

Beginner classes are open to all from the age of 16yrs. No previous knowledge of martial arts or fitness is required. Your class will not be strenuous and will be tailored to your ability. Beginner classes cover theory and the law. Wear loose clothing, tracksuit or shorts and t-shirt. No zips.

 

Adult classes

 

Adult Classes are open to men and women from the age of 16. All levels, ranks and arts are welcome

 

Advanced classes

 

Advanced classes are open to men and women of the rank of brown belt and above. In the case of arts that do not have a coloured belt system the rank of Sandan or minimum 3yrs training is required in any particular discipline.

 

Children’s classes

 

Children’s classes have been temporarily suspended due to lack of support. Classes are for boys and girls age 12-15. If any parents are interested in re-starting a junior support group please contact Bob on 07534 555 840 for details.

 

Women’s self defence

 

No previous knowledge of martial arts or fitness is required. Your class will not be strenuous and will be tailored to your ability. Self defence classes cover theory, the law and basic tricks for escape and evasion. Wear loose clothing, tracksuit or shorts and t-shirt. No zips.

A Typical Class / Lesson

 

Warm Up - Light stretching.

 

Focus Pad Work - Combination of striking techniques.

 

Ukemi (breakfalls)

 

Ma-Ai (the combat distance between training partners)

 

Sen No Sen (initiating a defense the instant you are attacked)

 

Taisabaki (body movement)

 

Uke (blocks & parries)

 

Atemi Waza (methods of striking the body)

 

Kuzushi Waza (methods of breaking balance)

 

Nage Waza (methods of throwing)

 

Kansetsu Waza (methods of locking joints on the body)

 

Shime Waza (methods of choking and strangulation)

 

Warm Down / Formal etiquette to Training Partners and Sensei / Questions & Answers

Cost

Varies - For lower belts £6.00 per grading including certificate.

Higher belts will cost more due to duration of grading.


The length of time to reach different belts depends on how hard you work, how good you are at learning, whether you actually absorb criticism and improve. Practice hard, have a good time and the "belts" will take care of themselves.
